Trades chemicals and materials, strengthening supply chains and supporting Indonesia’s industries

Among the many global locations of the Sojitz Group, the Sojitz Indonesia Chemicals Department contributes to the trading of chemical products in the Indonesian market through collaborative operations within the Group. The variety of products are covering petrochemicals, chlor-alkali, specialty chemicals, as well as the raw materials for consumer goods. Industrial Salt is one of symbolic trade items. Having supported Salt industries in India financially for a long time, Sojitz is the global distributor of their product, and contributing Chlor-Alkali industries in Indonesia. Other kinds of mineral materials are also handled which contributes to Indonesian industries of ceramic and foundry fields. In the field of petrochemical, special kinds of solvents which are not produced in Indonesia, are also imported to fill gaps in the supply chain in Indonesia. Besides, as a group company, PT Kaltim Methanol Industri (KMI) whose 85% stake is held by Sojitz, is the sole methanol producer in Indonesia and a leading supplier in Southeast Asia since 1998, such has created synergistic effect on our local phenolic resin business. We contribute by providing products and developing supply chains, leveraging our long-established expertise while collaborating with industry partners.

Organic Chemicals

Organic chemicals are carbon-based (C) substances and typically contain carbon–hydrogen (C–H) bonds, mainly derived from petrochemical sources, that serve as fundamental building blocks for many industrial products. Our portfolio includes key solvents such as Cyclohexane, Methylcyclohexane, and Ortho Xylene for polymers and coatings, as well as intermediates like Phenol and Paraformaldehyde used in resins, plastics, and adhesives. We also offer specialty organic chemicals products such as Phenolic Resins and Sodium Methoxide, supporting applications in high-performance materials, biodiesel, and chemical synthesis.

Inorganic Chemicals

Inorganic chemicals are substances that generally do not contain carbon–hydrogen (C–H) bonds, commonly derived from minerals, salts, metals, air, or basic chemical processes, that serve as essential materials in a wide range of industrial and manufacturing processes. Industrial Salt is one of symbolic trade items, a key raw material widely used in chlor-alkali production, water treatment, chemical processing, food industries, and various downstream applications. We also supply products such as Sodium Chlorate for pulp and paper bleaching, Calcium Hypochlorite for water disinfection, Sulfuric Acid and Hydrochloric Acid for chemical processing and metal treatment, Acetylene Black for conductive applications in batteries and electronics, and Aluminium Hydroxide for flame retardants, fillers, and industrial chemical production.

Industrial Minerals

Industrial minerals are naturally occurring non-metallic materials used as essential raw materials in various industrial and manufacturing applications. Our portfolio includes products such as Pyrophyllite for sanitary ware and refractory applications, Vermiculite for insulation and fire-resistant materials, and Bleaching Earth for purification, adsorption, and filtration processes in industries such as edible oil, chemicals, and environmental treatment, and Kaolin for refractory and ceramics. These materials support a wide range of industries by improving product performance, process efficiency, and manufacturing quality.

Specialty Chemicals

Specialty chemicals are high-performance products designed to provide specific functions and enhance the performance of industrial and consumer applications. Some of the products in this category are Superplasticizers for improving concrete workability and strength, Organosilicone/Silicone products for water repellency, lubrication, and surface protection, Fluff Pulp for hygiene products, as well as Hardcoating materials that improve scratch resistance and durability for various surfaces and materials. These products are widely used across construction, personal care, automotive, electronics, and industrial manufacturing sectors.
